Possession

By appropriating and manipulating aerial footage, this series is composed by nine artworks which comment on both geographical and social transformation. The artworks camouflage a note on the ideas of force and domination. The subject of authority rests on the core of Possession. The artworks are distorted territories which keep their inner properties but are mutated and disfigured. The series resonates with the earlier work Untitled Map of Africa presented in the group show Superpower: Africa in Science Fiction, exhibited in Arnolfini (2012), where the impact of territorial occupation was symbolically represented through the analogue alteration of a map of Africa.
